“I am extremely nearsighted and
I require thick eyeglasses.”
Similar to what had happened to me in my childhood, Emily had been wearing glasses since second or third grade, and her vision continued to deteriorate with each check-up. I am extremely nearsighted and I require thick eyeglasses. My husband and I did not want Emily's vision to grow worse throughout her teen and early adult years.
We decided to try corneal reshaping lenses and at first Emily had a difficult time adjusting to the rigid lenses. She felt they were uncomfortable and irritated her eyes. With great support and encouragement Emily persevered and adjusted to wearing the lenses in a couple of weeks.
We are so glad that she did! Emily is now in high school and an A student who takes her schoolwork very seriously. Her lenses have allowed her to maintain her vision, and to not worry about lenses during school or after school activities. We are grateful that we learned about corneal reshaping while Emily was still fairly young and her vision loss had not progressed too far. I recommend the lenses to other parents whose children are experiencing rapid changes in their vision.

“I visited 3 eye doctors... one recommended
corneal reshaping, the other two did not...
I didn’t know who to listen to.”
When the school nurse told me that my daughter Jessie was nearsighted, not only was my heart broken, I was also shocked! Both my husband and I have 20/20 vision. I never expected this could happen to my daughter. I inquired about corneal reshaping from a doctor in China. He promptly told me if Jessie was his daughter he would never allow her to wear these lenses!
When Jessie's eyesight continued to deteriorate, I visited another eye doctor but his advice was similar. A third doctor recommended corneal reshaping. I was confused and frustrated. I didn’t know which doctor to listen to.
At age twelve, without much trouble, Jessie quickly learned how to wear the corneal reshaping lenses never needing my assistance. Fast forward two years later and she has not needed to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses during the day. My daughter is happy. I feel the year of searching for the right treatment has been rewarded. I would certainly recommend to other parents to consider this technology for their children if they wear eyeglasses.
